I have been posting since Aug 16 of last year on a story, Heromaker's Legacy, in a trial of a different posting style, on a forum website. I have been posting around a thousand words a night, daily, since that time. We are almost at a year now since I started.

I do not know yet if I will continue.

It has become a bit of a strain, since Microsoft end-of-lifed Mappoint, I have been deeply involved in developing a system to replace the functionality it gave us, which has been absorbing a lot of my creativity.

At Jared's request, I am beginning to post it here as well.

Just a note, if anyone is curious - yes, I have been writing during this long drought. However, I also was hospitalized with congestive heart failure, and forced to move out of my apartment and into my parent's home. Then my father was also diagnosed with CHF, then suffered a mild stroke, and sometime later, a major stroke, and passed away.

In spite of this, I found NaNoWriMo, and have successfully won it the past three years (i.e. I've written at least 50k a year the past three years - closer to 80-100k actually). Deific Wisdom, which is part of that, has about 700k on book1, and 300k on book2 (which was my first NaNo attempt).

I've also finally gotten around to adding ePub support to my site, so you can now download ePubs of my books. This is unfortunately very preliminary, as currently Calibre is not recognizing chapters (in spite of my providing them in separate files), and so not producing a usable Table of Contents - page 2 of the file should work as a ToC in that the links in it appear to work on my system; but I'm not sure how they will behave on a handheld device.

Whew, I made it through another Christmas. Not only that, but I've finally managed another chapter of Finding an Anchor. It's probably a bit jumpy and incoherent, I really had to push to get past my writer's block on it.

Hopefully I will be able to move forward on it a bit more readily now.

Hopefully this also fixed the problem with book1 not showing the rewrite on either link.

For those who have been asking, have done a little on FaA recently, current chapter is at 37%.

For those who were unaware; I was hospitalized for a week in August of 2009 with congestive heart failure. The doctors told me that had I not been hospitalized I very likely would have been dead within a few days. As a consequence I moved back out to the country to recuperate, and so went from a nice fat pipe to somewhat sputtery ADSL.

Hence my private site disappeared, and when my public site suffered from several issues, I was not up to dealing with it.

After receiving some prodding, I wasted some time trying to get something working in Google Sites - unfortunately, the API interaction was simply too fiddly, and would have required too great a change in my now very comfortable suite of update scripts.

A bit more digging turned up a way to host the site in an Amazon S3 bucket, and a way to upload the site through an RSYNC like mechanism, which fit quite nicely with my scripting system.

I do not know at this point what the costs will end up looking like, so I do not know whether the site will remain up for the long term, since Amazon prices by bandwidth and data usage. Hopefully they will turn out reasonable.
